The cost of hiring a 2D animation company depends on the length, style and complexity of your animation. Most 2D animations can be produced for $1,500-$7,500 for every 60 seconds of content you want to create. How do I work with a 2D animation company to create my video?
To give you an idea of how your video is going to be created, let’s take a look at what the typical production process is like when you hire Video Igniter or another 2D animation company to make your video.
Step 1: Get A Quote
When you’re ready to begin production, reach out to all of the 2D animation companies you’re interested in hiring and ask them for a production quote. If you want to get better acquainted with the 2D animation company before you hire them, to learn more about their production process and how long it will take to create your animation.
Once you decide on a production company, let the producer know that you’re ready to start production. Your producer will follow up with an invoice for the first half of your animation’s budget to get production started.
Step 2: Create The Script
Our team will spend time learning about the main talking points you want to convey in your animation. We’ll also spend some time learning about your target audience and their needs.
Then, we’ll develop a script that conveys your key talking points using a story that resonates with your target audience. You will receive a copy of the script to review with your team. Send us your revision notes and we’ll work on an updated version of the script for you to review and approve.
Step 3: Create The Storyboard
Next, we turn your script into a storyboard. The storyboard acts as a visual blueprint for your animation. It tells our 2D animation company what to create during every part of your script.
You will receive a copy of the storyboard to review with your team. Give it a detailed review and make sure that we have included all the information we need to accurately show the right details in your 2D animation.
Step 4: Record The VoiceOver
You will receive a handful of voiceover auditions to listen to. Give them a review and let us know which one is your favorite. We’ll hire that voiceover artist to record the full narration for your video and acquire the commercial license so that we can legally use the recording in your 2D animation. You get an opportunity to review the full voiceover and request edits before approving the audio for production.
Step 5: Select Music
You will also receive a few soundtracks to preview for your animation. Give them a listen and let us know which soundtrack feels best to you. Our company will take care of acquiring the appropriate broadcast license so that we can legally use the music in your 2D animation.
Step 6: Create Illustrations
Video Igniter’s art director will review your storyboard and brand guidelines to create custom concept art for your animation. Give the concepts a review and let our art director know which concept is your favorite. You can also collaborate with the art director to revise and refine the visual details of your favorite concept until it’s perfect.
Once the concept art is approved, our 2D animation company will create all of the custom illustrations for your video. You get an opportunity to review all of the art and request edits before approving the illustrations for production.
Step 7: Animation
Now that everything is approved, we can animate your video! It takes about 1 week to animate 60-seconds worth of 2D animated video content (2D cel animations take 2-4x more time.)
When the first draft is ready, you will receive a link to download a copy of your video. Give it a detailed review with your internal team and members of your target audience. Collect everyone’s feedback and send it our way. We’ll incorporate your revisions and render out the final draft of your 2D animation.
