How to work with an animated video agency

Now that you know where to find an animated video agency for your project, here’s an overview of the production process so that you have an idea of what’s involved at every stage of production:

Questionnaire

Production kicks off with a questionnaire to better understand your project and goals. This is also the time you want to articulate what key talking points need to be included in your video. It’s also helpful to include information about your target audience. This way, your animation studio will know how to present the narrative in your animated video so that it speaks to your target audience in the way they’re used to communicating.

Script

Your animated video agency will review your answers to the questionnaire and use that information to create the first draft of your script. If you love the script as-is, mark it as approved so production can continue forward. Otherwise, share your revision notes with your animation studio and they will incorporate your edits and send you a 2nd draft for you to review.

Storyboard

The storyboard is like the blueprint for your animated video. Animation studios create storyboards for animated videos because they act as instructions for the illustrators and animators so they know what they are supposed to create. It’s also important for you to sign off and approve all the details that are included in the storyboard. If you love the storyboard as-is, approve it for production. Otherwise, share detailed feedback with your animated video agency. You want all the ideas in your storyboard to delight your target audience and now is the time to figure out what those visual ideas are going to be. Be sure to include include enough detailed information so that the illustrators and animators don’t need to halt production to ask any questions about what they are supposed to be making.

VoiceOver

You will get a chance to review them and select your favorite narrator(s). Then, they’ll get the full voiceover recorded. You will get an opportunity to review it and request edits before approving the recording for production.

Soundtrack

Let them know which soundtrack you like best so they can acquire the rights to use the music in your video. If you can’t decide which soundtrack you like best, let the animation studio know and they can help you preview the options when the first draft of your animated video is ready to review.
