Video Igniter uses a team of human animators and storytellers to bring your ideas to life. There are 7 steps in the animation creation process and we’ll guide you through all of them. Here’s a quick overview so you can understand what’s coming up:

1). Get A Quote

To get the animation creation process started, Video Igniter’s team will work with you to develop a timeline and budget to create your dream animation.

Once we agree to the scope of the project and a budget for your animation, you will receive a production agreement to sign and an invoice for the first 50% of your production budget.

2). Script

Now that production is underway, it’s time to write the script for your animation.

You have the option to write and provide the script for your animation (download our free script writing template). Or, Video Igniter can write your script for you.

After we write your script we will share the first draft with you digitally so you and members of your team can add your comments directly on the script document. After all the feedback is in, our writers will revise your script and share the 2nd draft with you to review and approve. If no edits are needed, we’ll move forward to the next stage of production. Otherwise, we’ll continue to work with you to polish your script until it’s perfect.

3). Storyboard

The next step in the animation creation process is to turn your script into a storyboard. The storyboard acts like the blueprint for your animation. Each page contains a sentence from your script, a mockup of the scene and a list of instructions for the animators so they understand what is supposed to move in each scene.

You can create the storyboard for your animation (download our free storyboard template) or Video Igniter can create it for you.

4). VoiceOver

After the storyboard is approved, the next phase of animation creation is to get the voiceover recorded.

Your team will get an opportunity to listen to the full recording and request edits (if needed) before we create your animation.

5). Soundtrack

6). Illustrations

One of the most enjoyable phases of the animation creation process is the creation of the illustrations.

We’ll start by making multiple pieces of concept art for you to review. Video Igniter’s art director will review your brand guidelines and style references. Then, they’ll create multiple pieces of concept art, based off scenes from your storyboard.

When you review the concept art, it’s important to share your honest feedback about what you like and dislike about each concept. This way, the art director can refine and polish your favorite visual concept until it’s perfect.

After the concept art is approved, the art director will oversee the creation of all of the custom illustrations for your animation. Once all the art has been created, you will get an opportunity to review all of the illustrations and request edits before we animate your video.

7). Animation

Now that everything is approved, it’s time for the final stage of the animation creation process!

It takes about 1 week to animate a video that’s 1 minute long. Fancier forms of 2D animation and 3D animation will take more time to make. If your animation is longer than a few minutes, we will likely add additional animators to speed up the production process. When the first draft is complete, you will receive a link to share the video so members of your team can download it and watch it. We also recommend you share your animation with members of your target audience so you can get their feedback too.

If you select Video Igniter, we will send you a production agreement to sign and an invoice for 50% of your production budget.

2). Script

Now that production is underway, we’ll set you up with one of our professional animators and copywriters. They’ll work with you virtually to develop a script that conveys your key messages in a story that resonates with your target audience.

You will receive a digital copy of the first draft of the script to review with your team. Add your feedback to the document and send it to us. Our writers will revise your script and send the 2nd draft to you to review and approve. If additional edits are needed, we’ll continue to work with you to polish the script until you love it.

3). Storyboard

1). Get A Quote

Before you commit to a specific producer to make your 3D video, Video Igniter will work with you to develop a production budget and timeline for your project. We’ll spend some time learning about what you want to show and communicate in your video. Then we’ll share budget and style examples for you to review.

Once we agree to the scope and timeline for the project, we’ll send you a production agreement and an invoice for 50% of your production budget. If you decide to hire Video Igniter to make your 3D video, we’ll begin making your animation as soon as we receive your production deposit and the signed production agreement.

2). Script

Now that production is officially underway, our writing team will make the script for your 3D video. You will receive a digital copy of the script to review with your team. Have everyone add their comments directly to the digital document and then send your notes to us. We’ll integrate your revisions and share the 2nd draft of the script with you to review and approve.

3). Storyboard

Next, we turn your script into a storyboard. When we make your 3D video, the storyboard acts like the blueprint for the project. It contains instructions that tell the illustrators and animators what to create and how to make things move for every part of your 3D video.

Each page of the storyboard contains a sentence from your script, a rough sketch or mockup of the scene and a list of instructions to explain what is happening in the scene.

6). Concept Art

Once the storyboard gets the sign off from your team, Video Igniter’s art director will begin developing concept art for your 3D animation. You will receive multiple visual concepts to review. The art director will work with you to revise and refine your favorite visual concept until it’s perfect.

7). 3D Modeling

Now that the concept art is approved, it’s time to make 3D models for every scene, object and character that’s featured in your 3D video. At first, the models will start out as black and white models like this:

At this stage, the goal is to focus on the shape and form factor for each model. After the shape of the models gets your sign off, Video Igniter will add color, shading and textures to your models. You will get an opportunity to review all of the colorized models before we make your 3D video.

8). Animation

It’s finally animation time! Our 3D modelers will organize the models to lay out each 3D scene in your video. Then, the animators will work their magic to bring everything to life!
