How to make an animated video for your business

Questionnaire

Production starts with a questionnaire to help us understand the important talking points that need to be communicated in your video.

Script

We will review your answers to the questionnaire and use it to develop a script for your animated video. For many animated business videos, the script tends to focus on the problem your target audience experiences and how your product/service can help them solve their problem. Most business videos end with a call to action that informs the viewer how they can get what you have to offer. Examples include: create a free account, download our app, contact our sales team, visit our website, etc.

We’ll send you the first draft when it’s ready to review. We recommend discussing it with your internal sales + marketing teams and members of your target audience. Collect everyone’s feedback and let us know what edits you want us to make. If you love the script as-is, we’ll proceed to the next step of the production workflow. Otherwise, we’ll continue to work with you to revise the script until you are thrilled with it. All Standard and Simple Animation projects include unlimited revisions.

Storyboard

After your script is approved, it’s time to create your storyboard. The storyboard is like the blueprint for your animated video. It is a way to organize instructions for the production team so that the illustrators understand what art they need to create and how the animators are supposed to make the images move. Each page of a storyboard includes a sentence from your script, a mockup of the visuals, a list of assets (audio and visual) that are needed for that scene and a list of instructions for the animators. You will get an opportunity to review and request edits for your storyboard before approving it for production.

Illustrations

Once your storyboard is approved, we begin developing the illustrations for your animated business video. Our art director will review your business’s branding and any style references you provided. Then, they will select a key scene from your storyboard and use it to develop some concept art for that scene using one or more original visual styles.

Review the concept(s) and let us know your honest feedback.

If you love one of the concepts as-is, we’ll use that style to design the rest of the art for your video.

What if you like aspects from multiple concepts? We’ll take your favorite parts and combine them to create a new concept for you to review and approve.

Not a fan of any of the concepts? Tell us why and we’ll happily develop fresh concept(s) for you until we create something you love. Then, we’ll create all the art for your animated business video and give you a chance to review the illustrations and request revisions before approving them for production.

VoiceOver

Our team will audition several voiceover artists and send you some recordings to review. If you love one of the VO artists, we’ll hire them to record the full voiceover and coach them to through the delivery and pacing of the recording. We’ll also license the recording so that you have the proper broadcast rights to use it in your business video.

What if you’re not a fan of any of the auditions? We’ll order up some fresh auditions for you to review and will continue to do so until we find the ideal voiceover artist for your animated business video.
